Disposition Fund
The Disposition Fund (DF) is part of the INTERREG IIIA Community Initiative and in its nature is a continuation of the successful PHARE CBC – Small Projects Fund of the Cross-border cooperation programme. At the same time it converges to the system of implementation of the INTERREG IIIA programme in the Austrian border regions, where the “disposition funds” system has been implemented for a number of years.
In the South Moravian region the Disposition Fund supports exclusively small non-investment projects of Czech-Austrian cross-border cooperation. For 2004-2006, in the South Moravian region, it has been allocated €410.2 thousand. The projects can be funded by the Disposition Fund by up to 75% of eligible costs; individual projects can be funded by a DF contribution of a minimum of €1000 and a maximum of €10,000.
On 15 February 2005, RDA South Moravia, in cooperation with the Association of South Moravian Municipalities, presented the programme of the Disposition Fund. Starting on 1 April 2005, applicants can register their projects with the programme administrator – Regional Development Agency of South Moravia, where the Regional Steering Committee will at least twice a year pass decisions on which projects will be supported.
Eligible to apply for DF funds are organizations of the South Moravian region such as municipalities, associations of municipalities, non-profit organizations (civic societies, publicly beneficial organizations, church legal entities), schools, interest groups of legal entities, chambers of commerce or agricultural chambers – more details can be found in the Guidelines for Applicants document.
Since a project applicant must have a partner on the Austrian side of the INTERREG program area in order to receive support, the DF administrator, in cooperation with Weinviertel Management, its Austrian partner, offers assistance in searching for a suitable partner for further Czech-Austrian cooperation.
Past experience with the PHARE CBC programme and first experience with the Disposition Fund show that this approach is an efficient mechanism for supporting small-scope projects and that it provides for flexible usage of funds, which are designated for supporting projects of cooperation on both sides of the border and that are small in budget but very beneficial in its impact.
