International Projects
RDA South Moravia is currently involved in the following projects:
DIANE (Direct Investment Agency Network)
The project is aimed at establishing cooperation in the field of innovation support and investment between subjects on the Czech-Austrian border and at creating conditions favourable for joint projects in these areas, including the creation of a joint strategy for supporting foreign investment in the regions on both sides of the border. The principal activities include working meetings and the establishment of partnership contacts, where a joint strategy for the promoting of the cross-border region - named CENTROPE - has been adopted. The region covers parts of the Czech Republic (regions of South Moravia and South Bohemia), Austria (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland), Slovakia (Bratislava and Trnava regions) and Hungary (Györ-Sopron-Vas). The goal of the project is to create joint marketing instruments, evaluate the strengths of the cross-border region, address the target group of foreign investors and contribute in this way to the already heavy inflow of foreign investment. The target areas selected in the CENTROPE project are electronics and information technologies, automotive industry, biotechnologies, and strategic services (esp. financial services).
In 2004, RDA South Moravia contributed to the project above all by preparing the visits of British and Japanese journalists, whose goal was to introduce the South Moravian region as a location offering favourable conditions for business and a tradition of manufacturing, research and development, qualified labour force, support background of numerous institutions of higher education, a favourable geographic location, and also the necessary attentive approach of the local administration.
Cooperation with the Sumadija Region
The year 2004 was a year of active cooperation with the Serbian region of Sumadija, where RDA South Moravia provided technical assistance for preparing projects funded by the South Moravian Region. At the same time, RDA South Moravia provided background information and trained experts of the emerging regional development agencies in Sumadija and Pomoravlje. In the end of the year, the text of the Contract signed by the South Moravian Region, the agency in Sumadija, and RDA South Moravia was finalised. Representatives of RDA South Moravia contributed to preparing the events, which were part of the visit by mayors of the Sumadija region in autumn and also participated in preparing their participation in the Contact-Contract event in Brno.
VNG Project
In the previous year, RDA South Moravia also became actively involved in the VNG international project which was signed by the South Moravian region on one side and by the city of Utrecht and the province of Utrecht on the other. The project has as its goal mutual exchange of experience in supporting development projects. A seminar was organized in September, where representatives of all four partner institutions identified fields in which future meetings and workshops will concentrate. The individual seminars will take place in 2005 in Brno and Utrecht.
